Cycle 9 Recovery

Cooper had a really good week after chemotherapy and then his platelets and white count went down.  He recieved a platelet transfusion 8 days after returning home.  That evening he was hospitalized for fever and he was in the hospital for blood cultures and antibiotics for 2 days.   After getting out we had a blood draw today.  His white count is up so he can be out a little bit.  His platelets are too low for chemotherapy tomorrow so they are pushing him until next Friday (Jared's birthday).  I am thrilled because Cooper's birthday is this coming Wednesday (September 28th) and he will be able to celebrate at home!!  While talking to Primary Childrens today I also found out that he cannot be around anyone who has had the flu nasal mist or an oral polio vaccine within 2 weeks of getting it because they are contagious and Cooper's immune system is very compromised.  My kids have to get the shot this year because it isn't live like the mist.

Tonight he was able to go to Korbie's soccer game and he didn't have to sit in the car with me.  Good stuff!  Right now his best buddy is over, Wyatt Marshall.  They posed for a couple of pictures.   Abbie and Morgan are over playing with Dalton and Korbie.  They are playing Just Dance 2, it is so fun to watch them play.  Lol.

Finally recovered and heading to chemo tomorrow!

Cooper is finally feeling better and his white count and platelets are high enough to start cycle 9 tomorrow.  He has 6 cycles left to go.  Each cycle is 2-3 weeks long.  Hopefully before Christmas he is done with chemo.  After he is done with chemo he will have ct scans, mri's, bone scans and blood work every 3 months for 3 years.  Then they will do those same tests every 6 months for 2 more years.

Cooper's friend Rocky came over tonight since his white count was up.  He enjoys having friends and they had a great time playing.  Here are some pictures.

Still Recovering!

Well the good times didn't last long.  He is back to not feeling great.  The doctor called this morning after the blood draw and he needs another transfusion.  This is the first time he has needed more than 3 between cycles.  He is very grumpy and doesn't feel well.  He has lots of bruises this morning.  They didn't anticipate needing platelets again so they can't get them here until late tonight.  His white count is also very low still.  It is usually up again by now.  Primary Childrens called this morning after the blood draw also and said because of his white count and platelets they won't consider having him back for chemo until next Friday.
